Construction Before & After in West Covina, CA
We could tell you we do clean work. We’d rather show you. The photos below are from real remodeling and general contracting jobs around West Covina, Azusa, and Covina. You’ll see what the space looked like when we pulled up, and what it looked like when we loaded the last truck. Some of these jobs took a week, some took six. All of them started with a written price and ended with a written guarantee.

1960s Galley Kitchen Opened Into a Great Room
[Placeholder: before photo – closed-off galley kitchen with load-bearing wall]
This home near Cameron Park still had the original kitchen: a narrow galley closed off from the living room by a load-bearing wall. The homeowner cooked facing a wall while guests sat in the next room. We removed the bearing wall, installed a flush LVL beam, and opened the kitchen into the living space. The result is one long room with an island, white shaker cabinetry, and quartz counters. The homeowner told me she now cooks facing the TV, and honestly, that’s the kind of upgrade you can’t put a price on.
Primary Bathroom Gutted to the Studs and Rebuilt
[Placeholder: before photo – cracked pink tile, fiberglass shower insert, single vanity]
This primary bath in the South Hills area had the classic late-80s package: pink tile on every surface, a fiberglass shower insert that had started to separate from the wall, and a vanity squeezed so tight the drawer hit the toilet. We gutted it to the studs, replaced the old cast iron plumbing, and rebuilt it with a curbless shower, a freestanding tub, and two vanities. The old shower leaked into the wall cavity, which the homeowner didn’t know until we opened it up. That’s why we write the price before we start, and why we tell you what we find the day we find it.
Whole-Home Refresh: Floors, Trim, Paint, and a Fireplace That Finally Works
[Placeholder: before photo – carpeted living room with non-functioning gas fireplace, dated oak trim]
This one started as a flooring job and turned into a whole-home refresh. The house near Edgewood Middle School had wall-to-wall carpet in every room, oak trim that had yellowed, and a gas fireplace the previous owner had disabled. We pulled the carpet, installed LVP throughout, replaced all baseboards and casing, painted every wall and ceiling, and set a new gas log set with a working remote. The homeowner’s father had been waiting to sell the house “when everything works.” It does now.
Shower Leak Turned Full Bathroom Remodel
[Placeholder: before photo – water-stained ceiling below second-floor bathroom, cracked grout in shower]
A homeowner in the Woodside neighborhood called because a water stain had appeared on her kitchen ceiling. The leak was in the second-floor shower pan, which had been installed without a proper membrane years before she bought the house. We pulled the shower, rebuilt the pan with a Schluter waterproofing system – that’s the orange fabric membrane that keeps water from ever reaching the subfloor – and retiled the whole room. Ceiling repaired, shower rebuilt, no more stain. The best part is she never has to think about the layer under the tile again.
Converted Garage into a Legal ADU
[Placeholder: before photo – empty two-car garage with exposed framing, roll-up door]
We get a lot of calls about garage conversions in West Covina, and this one was a full ADU: one bedroom, one bath, kitchenette, and its own exterior entrance. The homeowner wanted a place for an aging parent that was close but not too close. We handled the permits, re-framed the openings, insulated, drywalled, and finished it with the same material grades we use on any full home. The project passed the city’s final inspection the first time. If you’re considering an ADU, call us before you draw anything up, because the West Covina building department has specific requirements about setbacks and parking that most online guides don’t get right.
